How the crypto arbitrage calculator works

The calculator compares, for any euro amount you choose, how much of a cryptocurrency you receive at different regulated venues. To do so, your browser – only after your consent – fetches the current prices directly from each exchange, subtracts the stored trading fee and works out how many coins are left net for your amount.

It then sorts the venues by the amount received: at the top is the exchange where you get the most cryptocurrency for the same money. All calculations run directly in your browser; your inputs are neither stored nor sent to any server of ours. While the page is open, prices refresh roughly once per minute.

Why the amount you receive differs between exchanges

Three factors determine how many coins end up in your account: the market price, the spread and the trading fee. The market price is marginally different at each venue because supply and demand vary slightly per exchange.

The spread is the difference between the buy and sell price – a hidden cost component that a plain price comparison often misses. The trading fee, finally, is charged as a percentage of your amount and varies by exchange, trading volume and account type. This is exactly what the calculator makes visible: it places price, fee and resulting amount side by side, so you see not just the nominally cheapest price but the genuinely best value after fees.

Worked example: €1,000 into Bitcoin

Suppose you want to convert €1,000 into Bitcoin. Exchange A quotes a price of €60,000 and charges a 0.25% fee, exchange B quotes €60,150 at just a 0.10% fee.

At exchange A, €997.50 is left after the fee, giving about 0.016625 BTC. At exchange B it is €999.00 after the fee – but only about 0.016609 BTC because of the higher price. Even though exchange B has the lower fee, you get more Bitcoin at exchange A. Such combinations are hard to work out in your head – which is exactly what the calculator is for.

Costs the calculator does not include

The calculator accounts for the price and the percentage trading fee. Several real-world cost types are deliberately left out because they depend heavily on the individual case.

These include deposit and withdrawal fees (e.g. for SEPA transfer, credit card or crypto withdrawal), network or blockchain fees when transferring to your own wallet, possible spreads on market orders, and tax considerations. Always add these items separately for a true comparison.

Regulation: BaFin licence and MiCAR

The calculator only includes venues with a licence from BaFin or regulation under the EU regulation MiCAR (Markets in Crypto-Assets). These providers are subject to supervisory and transparency obligations, which offers a minimum level of consumer protection.

Even so, regulation is no protection against price losses or provider risk. It is best to verify a provider’s current licensing status yourself in the official BaFin register, which we link below each venue. The full list of venues included is shown further down.

What to watch out for when buying crypto

Compare not just the price but the value after all fees. Also pay attention to the order type: a market order is executed immediately but may fill at a worse price than displayed; a limit order gives you price control but only executes once your limit is reached.

Why must I consent before prices load?

Because your browser fetches the prices directly from the venues, which transmits your IP address to these third parties. This data transfer only happens with your explicit consent.

Is the arbitrage calculator free?

Yes. The calculator is completely free and works without sign-up. There are no costs and you do not have to provide any personal data.

Are my inputs stored?

No. All calculations run directly in your browser. The amount you enter is neither stored nor sent to our servers. Only for the live prices does your browser contact the venues directly, after your consent.

Can I make risk-free money with arbitrage?

No. Price differences between exchanges are usually small and can quickly be eaten up by deposit/withdrawal, network and trading fees as well as price movements during execution. The calculator shows quantity differences transparently, but it is not investment advice and not a promise of returns.
